The Republic on Grand – Date Night Idea

Daddy Daughter Dance – Lutheran Church of Hope
- Lutheran Church of Hope West Des Moines – January 31; 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Register here.
An evening of dancing and fun for dads and daughters aged 3 – grade 6! Tickets ($7.50 per person in advance; $10 at the door) include crafts, games, dessert and beverages. Professional photographers will be on hand for an additional cost.
The Snow Ball
February 1; 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Science Center of Iowa
Join Des Moines Parks and Recreation for the best party of the year, Snow Ball! Parents, relatives, guardians, and/or role models are invited to bring their kids to the Dance. This event provides an evening of dancing, refreshments, photo opportunities, art projects, and exhibits. A carnation flower will be given to all children and a chocolate fondue station with dipping options will be available for everyone to enjoy. Don’t miss out on this memorable opportunity! You must register for this event.

Dads and daughters ages 3 through grade 6, are invited to join us for an evening of dancing and fun! Tickets are $7.50 per person in advance and $10 at the door: includes crafts, desserts, and beverages. Register today.
Father-Daughter Valentine Dance
February 7 & 8; 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Pinnacle Club at Otter Creek Golf Course
An opportunity for father/father figures to bring their child out for an evening of fun and dancing. Dessert buffet included. A photographer will be there to take pictures for an additional cost. Please register here.
Family Valentine’s Dance
February 7 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Des Moines Children’s Museum
All are welcome at the Valentine’s Dance: young and old, caregivers, parents, and siblings, come dance under the disco ball, go on a scavenger hunt, and get crafty to make a Valentine’s card. All regular exhibits will be open.
$10 for ages 1-9; $4 ages 10+. Free for infants and members.
Family Valentine’s Day Cooking Class
February 8; 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
North Side Library
Practice basic cooking skills and bond as a family while making a delicious and healthy Valentine’s Day treat together! Xanthe’ Thompson, of Beautifully Birthed Doula Services and sponsored by Jai Olive Wellness, will lead in creating a delicious Valentine’s Day-themed parfait. Register here.

Crafternoon: Valentines
February 14; 1 to 5 p.m.
Forest Avenue Library
Join the library for a drop-in craft project at Forest! Use the supplies and provided instructions to make handmade valentines to hand out to your loved ones. Stop by anytime between 1-5pm. Ages 6+.
Valentine’s Family Glow Skate
February 14; 5 to 9 p.m.
Skateland
Join Skateland for a Valentine’s Glow Skate Night! Bring the whole family and light up the rink with love. Enjoy skating under the glow of fun lights, music, and Valentine’s vibes. Each paid admission will receive a glow stick and throughout the night, tehy will give away 10 wristband prizes, host a Pop the Lock tournament and a Skee-Ball tournament. They will also have a special Love Notes Station where you can write sweet messages to family and friends. Don’t miss this unforgettable night at Skateland!
Love in the Wild Night

Hear ye, hear ye! You are invited to South Side’s Magical Winter Ball! Put on your favorite outfit or costume and come to the library, where you’ll have the chance to meet a princess, do fun crafts and activities, and listen to a story! Best for ages 5-11.
Valentine’s Day Cookie Decorating
February 15; 1 to 2 p.m.
Giovannetti Shelter in Urbandale
Decorate cookies for the holiday! Each child will take home the cookies that they decorate. Please bring a plastic storage container. Please register the child ONLY. (Parent /guardian will need to be present to assist child with decorating.) Min 5 / Max. 20. Registration Deadline: February 8.
