Reiman Gardens, located just across the parking lot from Jack Trice Stadium, is a year-round attraction that families should visit. You can enjoy 1,000 different butterflies of different species in an enclosed butterfly wing. Situated on a 17-acre site, you will find distinct gardens all over with seasonal displays, and don’t forget their fun gift shop! Reiman Gardens is known for its many special events, including Spirits in the Gardens and Winter Wonderscape.

Spirits in the Gardens is a popular fall celebration and one of many great Halloween events filled with activities, storytelling, warm drinks, and hundreds of carved, lit pumpkins scattered across the 17-acre campus. Dress up in your favorite costume for even more spooky fun and bring your bags so you can stroll around the gardens and grab some candy during this family-friendly event.

Friday, October 9 & Saturday, October 10; 5 to 10 p.m., and Sunday, October 11; 5 to 9 p.m.

  • Hollusion dancing video projections
  • Gigantic inflatable characters

  • Candy will be available all night at the end of the route
  • Activities and chemistry shows from Iowa State University SCUM (Society of Chemistry Undergraduate Majors)
  • A local community group will be selling pre-packaged snacks and warm drinks as a fundraiser near Lake Helen.
  • Saturday and Sunday only, experience a visit from the Mid-Iowa Ghostbusters!

Timed Tickets

Timed tickets are for a specific day and entry time window. Buy your tickets early, as popular time slots sell out quickly! Advance tickets must be purchased online. Tickets are not refundable but are transferable to another person for the same date, time, and price category. The last entry is at 9:00 PM. The event will take place rain, snow, or shine.
