Grandview Park in Des Moines, Iowa

Grandview Park, a favorite park for many, now features a brand new playground. This playground has several unique elements. The vibrant colors add a distinct flair to this playground. My kids loved the layered belt steps that lead up to the tallest slide and they especially loved how fast that slide is! My kids kept finding new ways to challenge themselves climbing throughout the unique steps and ladders throughout the structure.

The playground offers a couple of different accessible elements on the ground level (though the playground has wood chip covering.) My kids also appreciated the old school playground telephone/talk tubes. Near the playground there are two traditional swings and two infant bucket seat swings.

Sprayground

Next to the playground, you will find the Grandview Park Sprayground. This sprayground features a large play tree and beehive that sprays water. The water flows down a few stone steps into the drain. This free sprayground is open May 1st through the end of September from 9am to 8pm. To start the water, press the activation button on top of the brown pole. Take a look at our giant list of wading pools and spraygrounds!

Grandview Park Overview

Grandview Park is a local gem that offers something for everyone in the family. Beyond the new playground and sprayground, you can find a popular 18 hole disc golf course. This well maintained disc golf course is moderately hilly with many trees. This park has a 1.68 nature trail loop that is frequented both by hikers and mountain bikers. The trail loops around the whole park, mostly staying in the wooded areas.

On the southeast corner of the park, you will find a smaller, older playground, near the corner of E 33rd Ave and Easton Blvd. This area also has two tennis courts, half court basketball court, and a open air shelter.
