Aptitude Fitness

Aptitude Fitness is a women’s gym designed to help all women in all stages of life. They have a large variety of classes, including strength, conditioning, barre, yoga, and Golden Gal Fitness for those over 65. Aside from the classes, they have personal training, nutrition consulting, perimenopause and menopause coaching, and summer camps for kids. BLUSH Boot Camp

BLUSH Boot Camp is a women’s gym with two locations in Ankeny and Waukee. They offer 50-minute boot camp-style workouts with a complementary kids club. Grow in your mind and body with personalized goal-setting meetings, body scans, wellness coaching, nutritional guidance, and a community of women supporting women. Burn Boot Camp has two locations in Ankeny and Waukee. Burn Boot Camp is designed for all fitness levels and can be modified up or down. Each boot camp is 45 minutes long and includes active warm-ups, exercise demos, strength and conditioning stations, and their signature Finisher exercise. Pulse Dance Studio

Pulse Dance Studio is an adult dance-inspired fitness studio. They have a wide range of classes, including barre, hip-hop, choreo, sculpt, circuit, and stretch. You can pay by purchasing class passes or annual and monthly memberships. Give it a try with their new client special that includes 2 weeks of classes for $39.
Stroller Groups
iStroll
iStroll is a stroller-friendly workout group owned by Kaity Fitzpatrick, a certified fitness instructor. The classes are 60-minute HIIT workouts that are designed with moms in mind. All workouts are stroller-friendly and are modifiable for pregnancy, postpartum, and all fitness levels. Parents are encouraged to bring their children to workouts with them, host play dates, and parents’ nights out each month in addition to the workouts. They also host a monthly free event called Walk, Run, Coffee.
- $7 per class or $35 monthly membership
- The group meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 9:30 AM at various playgrounds, but primarily at Doanes Park.

Stroll Fit
Stroll Fit is a stroller exercise program created by Sara Albright. She uses High-Intensity Interval Training combined with walking and running to create an amazing workout. Following the trail at Gray’s Lake or Racoon River Park, Sara leads you through cardio bursts while taking a few stops for strength training exercises. Her uplifting spirit makes class such an enjoyable experience. Your children will love riding along in the stroller and interacting with the other children in the group! Older children, who ride bikes or scooters, are also welcome! Sara is nationally certified through AFAA (Aerobic and Fitness Association of America).
- Stroll Fit takes place outside at Gray’s Lake and Racoon River Park from May to November.

RecPlex Toddler Time
Now, this isn’t an official group workout but just an idea! The RecPlex in West Des Moines hosts a Toddler Time most Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am-11:00 am. Burn some calories while chasing your little ones around the Hy-Vee Field House. They provide a huge basket of soccer balls, footballs, and kickballs. This is perfect for those cold winter months!

Sometimes getting out of the house isn’t an option. Luckily, YouTube has a plethora of workout channels to check out.
These are a variety of workouts that are challenging and safe for those who are pregnant and postpartum. They also started making kid workouts, too!
This channel has videos specific to pregnancy and postpartum, as well as toning and HIIT. Most videos are 15-30 minutes long. A variety of workouts include low-impact, body weight, and more.
This may not be a channel focused on motherhood, but it is a great channel for people with not a ton of time on their hands! Most workouts are HIIT style, which ranges from 30 to 40 minutes.
